smartmetal.ca uses privacy-friendly, aggregate analytics (Vercel Analytics) to count visits and pageviews. No advertising trackers and no cross-site tracking.

If you subscribe to a newsletter, your email address is stored with our email provider (Resend) solely to deliver that newsletter. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

SM Offset

SM Offset needs no account, and calculations happen entirely on your device. You can optionally sign in with a SmartMetal account (an email address, hosted with Supabase) to send feedback or manage your account, and delete it from the app at any time. In-app feedback reaches us as email via Resend. On launch the app may fetch a small version file from our server to check for updates.

The app shows a single banner ad served by Google AdMob in non-personalized mode: ads are contextual only, no advertising identifier is used, and the app does not request app-tracking permission. That ad is the only thing the app earns — there is nothing to buy.

Site Walk AI & Foreman Walk

These apps use an account (email address) to sync your projects. Voice recordings and photos you capture are uploaded to our backend (Supabase) to generate your reports, and belong to you.

Generated reports are emailed to addresses you choose, via our email provider (Resend).

Site Walk AI (from version 2.0) and Foreman Walk (from version 1.1) show a single banner ad served by Google AdMob on a small number of screens; earlier versions of either app carry no ads at all. There is never an ad over a walk in progress, over a report, or over a screen that asks for money.

Every ad request is non-personalized: no advertising identifier is used, the apps never show the app-tracking permission prompt, and nothing you record, photograph, type or upload is ever sent to Google. Google’s ad SDK does collect device data of its own — a device identifier, a coarse location worked out from the network, and whether an ad was seen or tapped — in order to serve and measure the ad. We never see any of it. Site Walk AI walks are free and unlimited; the banner is what pays for them.

Your recordings, photos, and reports are never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for anything other than producing your reports. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.

What We Never Do

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not run personalized advertising profiles. We keep only what a feature needs to work.
